Did you feel that? Yes, even though it’s raining outside this Monday morning, the temperature has finally dropped into boot-friendly temperatures! With the heat retreating at last, we can don our favorite scarves, grab a pumpkin spice latte, and check out the best events of fall in Dallas! (Don’t worry. We’ve got plenty of indoor fun for you and the whole family for all those wet Mondays to come. . .)
Chinese Lantern Festival at Fair Park
Through January 5, 2025
The festival debuted last year during the State Fair of Texas, and it was so popular that its run was extended. Back for its second year, this exquisite illuminated exhibit still enchants us at night. You won’t want to miss the 52-foot porcelain pagoda handmade from 68,000 plates, bowls, spoons and wine cups.
Autumn at the Arboretum
Through November 27
The Dallas Arboretum’s incredible fall transformation includes 50,000 orange pumpkins, green squash and speckled gourds spread throughout pumpkin village. Take an evening stroll through the pumpkin patch before settling in for one of the fall concerts on the lawn.
Animal Inside Out at Perot Museum
Through February 17, 2025
Created by Body Worlds mastermind Dr. Gunther von Hagens, this exhibit offers museum-goers an unprecedented — and, at times, creepy — look into animals’ anatomy. Explore 100 preserved specimens and learn about the incredible science of some of the world’s most interesting mammals.

Partygoers will also enjoy hors dʼoeuvres by local culinary artists, as well as beer, wine, and coffee provided by Grapevine Craft Brewery, Times Ten Cellars and Cedarwood Roasting Company.
All proceeds from the evening benefit Art House Dallas initiatives, programming and events for 2014. More info at the Art House Dallas/Facebook

North Oak Cliff Music Festival at Lake Cliff Park
November 2
Now in its second year, this music fest is bringing acts such as Jason Eady, Black Lillies, The Relatives, Daphne Willis, Band of Heathens, Seryn, Ian Moore, Ruthie Foster and Bob Schneider to its stage.
In addition to a full day of concerts, enthusiasts can indulge in complimentary bites from local food trucks and children’s activities. Pets are welcome too.
Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot
November 28
This Dallas tradition, now in its 46th year, is our favorite way to start the holiday — mainly because it eases the guilt for the meal we’re about to consume, and it supports a good cause. Join fellow Dallasites — some of whom are decked out in turkey and pilgrim costumes — at City Hall Plaza for the 5K or 8-mile race.
