Home Sales Stay Strong in Summer Around the Metroplex

Don’t expect the summer home market to slow down in the metro area, the experts say. The executive home at 612 Rancho Laredo Trail in Southlake features more than 5,000 square feet of living space with beautiful finishes throughout. Listed by Robert Tyson for $829,990.
Summer is usually the season that brings a slowdown in home sales, thanks to homebuyers who are often in a vacation frame of mind.
This summer, experts are predicting that the fast-paced market will curb only slightly, as head homebuyers continue to take advantage of well-priced homes and low mortgage interest rates.
Agents at Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty share their insights on the market.
“Inventory is very tight. Even if there is a bit of a slowdown this summer, it will take a while for inventory to reach a balanced, six-month level. We’ll likely see a continuation of higher than usual demand,” said Nanette Ecklund-Luker.
“Demand remains high at every price point thanks to positive economic news. The low inventory and high demand is causing prices to rise, which will motivate some potential sellers to get in the game,” said Marilyn Newton.
“In speaking with other agents, we’ve all noted that the spring market seems to be continuing into summer. Homebuyers are using online resources, they are well-prepared about neighborhoods and have clear vision of their wants/needs, so when they see the right property they move quickly to make the offer,” said Jessica Bonanno.
